Confused and in need of a drink or 50
Ok, first off, thanks to the Rat for helping me pick the parts for a PC, but I've decided to go laptop and you can't buy those by the part.
So, we're going with Dell, and I need you computer types to advise me here, because I built 2 laptops and something doesn't make sense. I'll let you see for yourselves.
Option 1:
Option 2:
To sum it up:

Option 1: Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T9300 (2.5GHz/800Mhz FSB/6MB cache)
Option 2: Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T7500 (2.2GHz/800Mhz FSB, 4MB Cache)
OPERATING SYSTEM
Option 1: Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium Edition
Option 2: Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium Edition

Option 1: High Resolution, glossy widescreen 17.0 inch display (1920 x 1200)
Option 2: High Resolution, glossy widescreen 15.4 inch LCD(1680x1050) & 2MP Camera
VIDEO CARD
Option 1: 256MB NVIDIA® GeForce® 8600M GT
Option 2: 256MB NVIDIA® GeForce® 8600M GT

You can see the rest for yourself. I'm confuddled. Help me. Option one looks better, but option two is supposed to be better.

option one has faster hardware, except for the hard drive. It's better on option 2.
Option 2 is the XPS line, which caters to gamers. I don't know exactly what piece of hardware is better on that one. Maybe the motherboard runs cooler and more efficiently. Maybe the monitor has a higher refresh rate and better contrast ratio.
Maybe the XPS name is just marketing and option 1 is better. It looks better on paper... maybe there is something about option 2's case that is more expensive than 1. Maybe it's all hot air.
If the two options were beer, I'd say that 1 has a better taste. Thing is, who knows about the aftertaste.
Considera Alienware tambien. Good shit.
Métete en CNET y busca los reviews más recientes de laptops para jugar. No tienes que irte con Dell, y puede que encuentres mejores alternativas.
Has to be Dell. Somebody made an executive decision about that.
Anyway, I can't believable. I can't find anything on the internet that can explain this question, an ex Dell Sales Champion (Yankee) and an ex Dell Tech Support non-Champion (Megna) can't answer me, and now even the Rat tells me to flip a friggin' coin. I can't believable.
Vista sucks cock. Once u go Mac u never go back. Get a new MacBook Pro te recomiendo blues. You can even install Windows on it and have both operating systems si te da withdrawl (which probably won't happen). And wow looks great on Macs :)
Actually Benny is right. A Macbook Pro with 2gb of ram will run vista beautifully, but you have to install it yourself.
Best laptop. Ever.
If you have to abide by your dictator's, erm... dad's, rule of law, then go with the XPS. It's going to be boxier, but likely more dependable and will run colder. You don't really need 1900x1200. My desktop's monitor runs at the same res as the one on your laptop and it looks beautiful.
Having a 7200 rpm HD over a 5400 rpm HD is worth it, imo.
Vista is getting better regularly. I stopped having problems with it. Driver makers caught up with it, and new laptop architectures are designed for it. It will be the standard pretty soon anyway.
It sucked all the cock last year around this time. It made me want to punch a wall. Right now, it seems like a necessary evil.
If you get a big enough hard drive, you can always install XP alongside it and dual boot for shit that runs slower or buggy in Vista. The list of software that has those problems is getting shorter and shorter, though.
Look @ apple. Seriously. Best Windows laptop. No joke.
Fuck it. If the data says one is better, then that's it, I'm going with the numbers. There's just too much mystery around why the other one is supposed to be better.
Wait... so having a better hardrive outweights the advantages of the other one?
well, you need a dependable hard drive, you dont want to be losing all your shit just because you have crappy HD, in any case...you should always get a backup HD just to be on the safe side.
and what do you mean non-Champion? I was #1 tech support agent of the quarter one time and was usually around the top 10 the other quarters, and that was out of 350 people, respect my authoritah!
in any case...i agree with the rat on the marketing standpoint and its like i told you yesterday...most people who buy the Inspiron dont pump it up with max specs like you are doing, so its quite possible that you are getting more for less...even though the XPS is the one for gamers...i agree...go with the numbers.
