So is he being retarded? He sure sounds biased, but I'm not sure. I don't really know anything at all about senator Palin, except about the Alaska bit, which appears to be true according to the news sources I've read... which doesn't prove or disprove anything of significance about what Damon is saying.
Basically, in my ignorance, I just heard this as pure opinion, and don't even know if he has the facts to make his opinion brilliant or retarded.
Damon's a Democrat, for starters. Can't point you to a website that says that, but I know he's pulled for Gore and Kerry and before. Not surprising, Damon's home stat of MA is traditionally a Dem stronghold in Presidential elections. (Their last two Governors have been Republican, though)
It's definitely an opinion, but it's an opinion formed from his interpretation of the facts. I wouldn't base my own opinion on someone else's interpretation. However, I can think of lesser minds that have voiced theirs with equal conviction, regardless of bias or party affiliation.
I don't have a problem with what he's saying, really.
Blues: It's ok to be biased. Everyone's biased. The only ones not allowed to be biased, by profession, are grade-school teachers, high-school teachers, and journalists. But it so happens that we all have biases, even when our profession dictates that we shouldn't Matt Daaaaaaamon doesn't have to be objective. Nobody does.

In short, I don't get the joke, and I'm too lazy to google enough stuff to get it.
